Nothing to Report?

Last week in Mind-full on Mindful, I shared some links and thoughts on Mindfulness. Worth the read, I humbly offer and suggest. This morning, I practiced same in considering Cooperation. And, earlier this week, I shared on alignment. All of this is to say that I have nothing to report this week.

Except…

… things are happening, things are changing. I am in self reflection. Also, and in so doing, I continue to memorize these words. I am intent on memorizing them by December 31, 2020.

Why?

Alignment.

My teaching, my learning, my business, my work, my service and my joy are undergoing a sharpening… guided by these words I now reference as my “Code“.

My website is soon to be renewed. It will be guided by these words; not directly … but infused by the spirit. My walk with Panda and her health will be guided thusly. My walking into 2021 will be wholly guided by these words.

Indeed, there is nothing to report this morning. Except… alignment matters… big time… for not only our “success” but our health and joy. Next week, and after the New Year, things will have changed. Then, I can truly report. For now, what I will sincerely and assertively and humbly say is … find those words to which you will align your deeds… find those words that articulate your countenance and gate in 2021 going forward. Find them in existing prose, poetry or pronouncement… or find your own.

But make them aligned soulfully.

That said…

  • I wish you a Happy New Year’s Eve
  • I wish you a 2021 of growth inward and outward
  • I wish you a 2021 of alignment
  • and, I wish you a year of …

Peace, passion and prosperity…

Mind-full on Mindful

In broadCAST December 2020, I shared that I am now focusing on these words, “Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts.” And, I will be for the next few days and into Christmas Day. First, the broadCAST this month is rich in contributions by so many wonderful people and I thoroughly recommend the experience. Second, and in response to this article just forwarded by a good friend, I offer up on Mindfulness.

I am mindful of those words now… Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. And Mindfulness matters. It is indeed a virtue and, as such, can be practiced. Awake. Aware. Alert. Considerate. Graceful.

Nature is mindful. Our fellow creatures are. Mindful is present, not prone to the obsession with past and worry of future. Mindful is now. The Zone.

And so I am mindful of Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. It is a focus of my thoughts, clear and pure these next few days in particular.

For me, Mindfulness is about doubling down on the primary focus, accepting, accounting and appreciating… for my life to date and forward.

I say this, in part, because in concluding my College Term and walking my path with Panda these days, today I am feeling a bit of a weariness. My containment and discipline over these last months and weeks almost gives way to a crash and collapse. Almost.

I am aware of what my mind, body and spirit are saying. I am increasingly aware of the still, small voice of my Soul saying, “Takes these coming days and be mindful.” Mindful is not about a full mind but about awareness. That requires so many virtues in practice.

But I suggest, at heart, it requires Simplicity.

And it requires Dominion and Candor.

Taking ownership of our lives inside and out. Emotional Intelligence manifested. Meaning explored. Our own fire and grace accepted.

2020 has been one heckuva year. 2021 brings no promises. Of that we need be mindful. Rest and reset, both matter. To be “ready”, we need be mindful of where we are, when we are, who we are, how we are. We need be mindful of presence for us to present ourselves to the world.

Over this Season, I intend to use my prayer space and our modest little home as Bat Cave if you will…. to go inward to better live Barry outward. That in mind and heart, I respectfully ask that you consider the links. Consider the Virtues Reflection Card on Mindfulness. Ask yourself, “How can I better and best practice Mindfulness going into and through 2021? Get ever more clear on what that looks like daily, weekly, monthly and for life.

With that in mind and heart, I humbly offer this prayer…

Being ready in all circumstances. Mindful.

Peace, passion and prosperity…

Do Do Do Run Run Run

In Strength of Service… I shared, “I know that 2021 for me will be a path where Service is the foundation of a true sense of joy… practiced with Panda, my Circle and those I am most intent on serving going forward.”

And it will. That said, this week is crazy busy for me with cluing up papers and exams for College. With that in mind… Day 15 (Wednesday, December 16)… through Day 11 (Sunday, December 20) will still be about deepening on the path of what it might look like to strive to be…

  • “as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.”

But more specifically, this week is about the DOing. I have a lot to do over these next few days… and it is time for deeds over words.

How does all this connect? It is about Countenance and Gate, walking the walk and talk. As I do what needs be done, I act upon those words above; being guided as I move. These few days are not about traditional reflection but they are about driving my CAR… considering, acting and reflecting as I go. And it is about delivering. Sometimes you just got to go do, do, do, run, run, run and learn as you go. That in mind, this post will not be shared until Wednesday so by time of reading, I will be 2 days in on that Do Do Do Run Run Run.

You cannot be guided unless you move.

Peace, passion and prosperity…

Strength of Service

In Walk that Humble Swagger, I shared on a thought around “Be unjust to no (hu)man, and show all meekness to all (hu)men.”

Now, I am on to another week-long leg of the 42 Day Countdown Journey to 2021.

This a journey towards exploring my own character being brought to 2021. Given the past week and news of Panda’s health and the road ahead, I am ever more clear on the need for me to do this. So, this week, I am focusing on “Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.” I am taking this week to ponder these words.

But, I must tell you that my recent conversation with Linda Kavelin-Popov reminded me of what they might look like humbly strived for in a human being and doing. I invite you to take in that conversation.

Linda is a best selling author, international speaker and Founder of The Virtues Project, starting with a simple coffee conversation in 1988. The Project is now in at least 120 countries and has received recognition from the UN, Dalai Lama, Oprah and Time magazine. It is remarkable as a true movement; and I recommend that view and listen.

As for me, Day 22 (Wednesday, December 9) through Day 16 (Tuesday, December 15)… will be about deepening on the path of what it might look like to strive to be “as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.”

There is Strength in these notions, for ourselves and in Service to others; humbly walked.

I know that 2021 for me will be a path where Service is the foundation of a true sense of joy… practiced with Panda, my Circle and those I am most intent on serving going forward.

Now that (for me) is a strength to lead worth working towards.

Peace, passion and prosperity…

Walk that Humble Swagger

In A Code of Character last week, I shared on a Countdown I am on. I suggest the read. Since then, I have shared on…

All of this is to say that (a) Panda has tests being run this week and (b) Wednesday, December 2 is Day 29 of the Countdown. Much like last week, I am going to take a week from Day 29 (Wednesday, December 2) to Day 23 (December 8) and address…

“Be unjust to no (hu)man, and show all meekness to all (hu)men.” 😉

By address, I mean that I will choose to meditate and reflect on same. I will practice Prayerfulness in doing so. But I will also keep these thoughts on meekness in heart and mind. Meekness is born of Humility, and there is nothing weak about Humility.

Humility values ourselves and others; thoughts and feelings. It is quite willing to both give and receive help, allowing us to recognize that we are each “works in progress”. With it, we can both admit our mistakes and learn from them. It was Dale Carnegie who suggested we should admit our mistakes emphatically. Admission of such is born of true Confidence. With Humility, we are perfecting though never perfect… and we are grateful for that and our other gifts. Humility is a beautiful, quiet Confidence that says we have a right be here and so do others.

So, “Be unjust to no (hu)man, and show all meekness to all (hu)men.” Enter Humility.

Humility is Strength. I have often spoken on Humble Swagger, and I am being reminded I need further reflect on same. As I walk these days with Panda, and head into 2021 resolved to bring my own best (regardless of what 2021 brings) in strength of character… I need go deeper on Humility.

Gary Vaynerchuk gets it. John Mellencamp sings to it. My thought to you is to consider and reconsider this strength of Humility. We need more of it to inherit the Earth.

Peace, passion and prosperity…
