Mind-full on Mindful
In broadCAST December 2020, I shared that I am now focusing on these words, “Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts.” And, I will be for the next few days and into Christmas Day. First, the broadCAST this month is rich in contributions by so many wonderful people and I thoroughly recommend the experience. Second, and in response to this article just forwarded by a good friend, I offer up on Mindfulness.
I am mindful of those words now… Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. And Mindfulness matters. It is indeed a virtue and, as such, can be practiced. Awake. Aware. Alert. Considerate. Graceful.
Nature is mindful. Our fellow creatures are. Mindful is present, not prone to the obsession with past and worry of future. Mindful is now. The Zone.
And so I am mindful of Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. It is a focus of my thoughts, clear and pure these next few days in particular.
For me, Mindfulness is about doubling down on the primary focus, accepting, accounting and appreciating… for my life to date and forward.
I say this, in part, because in concluding my College Term and walking my path with Panda these days, today I am feeling a bit of a weariness. My containment and discipline over these last months and weeks almost gives way to a crash and collapse. Almost.
I am aware of what my mind, body and spirit are saying. I am increasingly aware of the still, small voice of my Soul saying, “Takes these coming days and be mindful.” Mindful is not about a full mind but about awareness. That requires so many virtues in practice.
But I suggest, at heart, it requires Simplicity.
2020 has been one heckuva year. 2021 brings no promises. Of that we need be mindful. Rest and reset, both matter. To be “ready”, we need be mindful of where we are, when we are, who we are, how we are. We need be mindful of presence for us to present ourselves to the world.
Over this Season, I intend to use my prayer space and our modest little home as Bat Cave if you will…. to go inward to better live Barry outward. That in mind and heart, I respectfully ask that you consider the links. Consider the Virtues Reflection Card on Mindfulness. Ask yourself, “How can I better and best practice Mindfulness going into and through 2021? Get ever more clear on what that looks like daily, weekly, monthly and for life.
With that in mind and heart, I humbly offer this prayer…
Being ready in all circumstances. Mindful.
Peace, passion and prosperity…
