Where are you?  Start there.

A couple of weeks back, I found myself in conversation with an accomplished colleague in the training business, Hugh Culver.  We were chatting on a myriad of thoughts and ideas, but one, in particular, was actually a synthesis of many we chatted on.  I thank Hugh for that… and more.   You really ought to check him out.

On any matter or issue, ask yourself, “On a scale of 0 to 5, where am I?”  Then assess what you need to move the needle, even slightly.

With our work, I suggest that you then start to consider what character strengths are needed to start that process.

When I look at my health or my business or any aspect of my life, I must needs ask this question and then determine what the next “step” is and that step starts with character which results in appropriate behavior.  Behavior grows from the soil of character.  Who we are defines what we do.  Practicing virtues starts with “being” and the result is “doing”.  But it starts with where you are.

Remember that final scene in Castaway?  Where are you?  Start there.  Over these next few days, in matters of health and work and learning, I will be doing just that.  I wish you the same.

Peace, passion and prosperity.
