As we begin this broadCAST™, we are reminded that august means “inspiring reverence or admiration; of supreme dignity or grandeur; majestic”

The broadCAST™ is a monthly weigh in by members of The CAST™ of Epic Engage™.  Independent experts in their own right, members of The CAST™  have an opportunity to share their earned insights right here, for you, each month.

With that in mind, we wholeheartedly encourage you to connect with these experts on their respective expertise and how it might be of service to you.  They each bring such great value in service to their work in communications, youth engagement, education, compassion, business, health, leadership and more

August 2017

The question for The CAST™ in August is…

What inspires you with awe or reverence?

The responses were varied and cool.  Engage and enjoy. 🙂

RAY HOLLISTER SAYS

Simplicity has always inspired me. It has always amazed me when I hear someone take what is commonly believed to be a ‘difficult’ topic, and explain it simply and profoundly. Truthfully, I was first exposed to this as young boy sitting in the church pew with my parents. Listening to a preacher expound on Scriptural principles was perceived by many to be difficult for children to understand, but I was very lucky to have a preacher who believed we were ALL children of God, and he expertly crafted his sermons to be understandable, relatable, and practicable to all of us – even the children. Later in life, I became fascinated with Physics and Fluid Dynamics (don’t ask, I’m just weird that way). Most people would argue that Physics is difficult to understand. But take a few moments and listen to Neil deGrasse Tyson; you will be mesmerized AND you’ll learn something about Physics (Astrophysics specifically). I developed early on in my life a core belief that anything can be simplified – and therefore, understood. That one inspiration has led to a love of learning, a love of life, and a love of simplicity! So how can you apply this to your life? SIMPLE! (see what I did there). 🙂  Whatever goals you may have, it is highly likely that others have achieved what you aspire to do. And it is almost a certainty that among those who have achieved what you aspire to achieve is someone who can simplify the process for you in a way that you will understand, relate to, and be able to put into practice. May I be so bold as to suggest that there are contributors to this newsletter that may be able to do this for you even now?  🙂  Simply yours…

Ray Hollister is all about strength, excellence and potential. In fact, he has a very special connection raywith students – he’s helped thousands achieve average scores of over 90% for 20 years! His love of learning… and his ability to teach anybody the same easy strategies he used to study far less than everyone else while maintaining outrageously high test scores… quickly earned him a lot of ‘friends’ seeking his advice. Ray has personally conducted numerous studies to develop an intense, focused, and  results oriented program for college students. With the success of that program, Ray set his sights on helping younger students in Junior High, High School, and those just entering University. The end result is a program that will help any student – especially YOU – learn more, study less, and earn consistently high grades.  www.rayhollister.net

LIZ BURT SAYS

I think what I have been most inspired by in my career is simply hard work and effort. I have been lucky to meet a few unsung superstars in my career who really kick ass and work hard, and these people inspire me big time. They haven’t been CEOs or the flashy type of people who would ever draw attention to themselves. They have been regular hard-working women who I have worked side by side with, who just dedicate themselves and produce amazing work. They can accomplish an incredible amount of work in what seems to be a very short time and remain humble and never seek praise for it. They have really inspired me with their work ethic as well as their ability to make it look so easy! Inspiration from hard work and effort inspires me outside my career as well. I am inspired by athletes who dedicate themselves to their sport, push their bodies to the max and train for hours on end to be their best. I’m inspired by people who take their education to higher levels and by the entrepreneurs who hustle for years and turn their dreams into realities. I am inspired by the tireless, tenacious pursuit of being one’s best and that applies to many areas of life!

MARK BLACK SAYS

Essentially, and for me, I am inspired by these words.  St. Theresa once said that she was “a pencil in the hand of God writing a love letter to the world.”  We are all “tools” in the hands of the Creator, building a better world.

Mark Black, CSP is all about wellness and resilience.  He is a Heart blackand Double-Lung Transplant Recipient, 4-time marathoner, resilience expert, speaker, and coach. Mark helps people “Thrive in Challenging Times”. A Certified Speaking Professional, Mark has inspired more than 100,000 people in more than 350 presentations. At 23 Mark faced an unimaginable challenge. His doctor informed him that his heart was failing. Without a rare and dangerous heart and double-lung transplant he would not see his 25th birthday. Three years later, after receiving his second chance at life, Mark ran his first marathon. Mark spends his free time with his beautiful wife and two kids.  www.markblack.ca

SHEENA GROBB SAYS

One thing that inspires me in my life and my work is creative problem solving… when a solution or an idea comes through us that presents a whole new level of possibility we never thought of before.  It’s deeply energizing when perceived road blocks dissolve into new door ways through an open mind.  I am also continually inspired by the people in my life who absolutely blow past fears and obstacles put in their path…  courage and perseverance is something I admire most.

Sheena Grobb Singer/Songwriter and Speaker… is humbly amazing. “It is without a doubt a masterpiece of songwriting and soundscape. Really incredible, soulful music. TRENT LANGDON SAYS

Dodging the Cows, Memes & Quotes in the Social Media Tornado. Anyone who has spent any amount of time within the social media realm has experienced the tornado of historic quotes, touchy-feely messages, and deep thoughts that stream across your screen of choice. In a matter of seconds, your thought processes shift from appreciating the forward-thinking of Abraham Lincoln, to saving an endangered species, to stopping and enjoying a kitten sleeping in a mug.  Prior to utilizing social media, I very much valued stumbling upon that special quote or idea that grabbed my attention and motivated for days to come. Now with the search of one key word, your screen is flooded with a vast array of options for your perusing pleasure. I now find that my thoughts can often be scattered and fleeting with any amount of time spent online.  Thanks for sticking with me on this one… here is my line of thinking. 🙂 It is important to intentionally stabilize our thinking patterns as a way of controlling stress, ‘tornado thinking’, and preventing anxiety; an online presence can sometimes become invasive to your well-being.  In terms of your own personal mission statement, choose to hold true to those perspectives and ideas that represent your values. Your online footprint can become quite blurry with overuse of that ‘share’ button.

Trent Langdon is all about building legacy through character education and development. He is a junior high school counselor for 650+ adolescents and is dedicated to serving his students, their families, and communities.  Trent works on behalf of his colleagues to build identity, protect professional roles, and to give teachers ‘a voice’; currently completing his 2nd term as a member of the Provincial Executive Council of the Newfoundland & Labrador Teachers Association (NLTA) and now as the incoming NLTA Vice-President for the 2017-2019 term of office. Trent is also a Canadian Certified Counselor with the Canadian Counseling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and serves as a member of the CCPA Ethics Committee (Complaints Division).  And last but certainly not least, Trent is a proud contributor to the Epic Engage team. www.epicengage.com

JAMIE McCABE SAYS

What inspires me is helping others. I love seeing people smile and enjoying life. I enjoy talking with our customers and getting to know them and creating a connection. The little moments that pass us by so fast; they inspire me to take a break and smell the flowers from time to time. My family inspires me to the be the best version of myself and that I am destined to do great things… and my desire to do so is for them. Family, friends and creating connections is what makes my heart feel full of love and that is what inspires me most.

BARRY LEWIS GREEN SAYS

I have two videos to share on this… one shot live and this morning from Facebook Live and one You Tube video running through what inspires me… click on the red button for that one.  Bottom line, three things occur to me.  First, character inspires me.  Second, the wonderful people in this monthly blog inspire me with their work and commitment and lives.  Third, I humbly suggest that you take the time to inventory and get abundantly clear on what inspires you.  Having the ability to articulate that for yourself can get you through those tough slog days… and moving to better ones.

Barry Lewis Green is ultimately a vocalist, strength coach and educator. His work is about voicing, exploring, identifying, practicing and mastering our strengths and building upon them through practical and powerful unity and resourcefulness.  His book Human Being Being Being Human speaks to that.  and that is why Barry is The Unity Guy™. EPIC Engage™ is an extension of The Unity Guy™.
