The broadCAST™ is a monthly weigh in by members of The CAST™ of Epic Engage™.  Experts in their own right, members of The CAST™  are asked to answer a question of simple but possibly profound nature.  For December, the question is:

What is most special to you about this time of the year?

SHEENA GROBB SAYS…

What’s most special to me this time of year is the silence.  The sensitivity to life and all its spectacular displays.  We hold our hugs just a little longer…. grobbcherish time with our family and friends.  We reflect on a year gone by and take pause to acknowledge all we’ve come through.  Some of our attention is turned to those who struggle more than we do…. even our phones get put away.  In the silence, we seem to remember ourselves and each other.

Sheena Grobb Singer/Songwriter and Speaker… is humbly amazing. “It is without a doubt a masterpiece of songwriting and soundscape. Really incredible, soulful music. She will definitely get a huge audience in time, trust me.” Alex Wharton, Abbey Road Studios. A songbird from the age of two, songwriter at ten, with 3 albums under her belt, a nomination for the Western Canadian Music Awards, and over 500 tour dates across Canada, the US, and the UK, Sheena Grobb (one of Canada’s best kept secrets) is spilling over. With the release of her newest album, The Breakless Heart, mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London, and a life changing music video created by Lindsey Nelko (past choreographer with So You Think You Can Dance), Sheena is embarking on her most meaningful project yet – The Living Compassion Project™ – inviting others to “unlock their lives” through sharing their stories… as she begins to share hers. www.sheenagrobb.com

TRENT LANGDON SAYS….

It has always intrigued me how kindness and goodwill are frequently demonstrated through donations, outreach, and gift-giving this time of year (in Trentspite of religious affiliation). People bare willing to dig deep and make a donation at the drop of a hat. So much so however, that it has become automated to some degree, without the traditional  intrinsic value of the good deed. Out of obligation, people are over-extending themselves and their families, often missing the  simple actions of a kind gesture or a thoughtful handshake. It is with this that I emphasize how this season gives me reason for hope and provides time for reflection that will ensure my contribution extends beyond the season.

Trent Langdon, M.Ed, Canadian Certified Counsellor is all about legacy and building yours by rewriting your ‘game plan’ or rejuvenating your organization’s foundations.  Trent is a strong believer that success and contentment is achievable through actions of integrity and character; for an individual or an organization. With more than 20 years of experience as a CHANGE AGENT for children, adolescents, families, schools, communities, and professionals, Trent can walk with you toward Personal Development and Discovery, Organizational Review and Renewal, and A Career / Life Plan for Teens.  www.epicengage.com

JOEL SWEENEY SAYS….

This time of year is special because it causes me to appreciate how blessed I truly am. Blessed to have good health, blessed to have the love of family and friends and blessed to live in a place that doesn’t have extremes, extreme weather, extreme violence and extreme attitudes. It is an opportunity toJoel-Sweeney look at my life through a lens of gratitude. I am grateful for the life I have. I am grateful for the people in my life. I am grateful to live in a peaceful country. I am grateful to be able to work at something I am passionate about and at the same time be of service to others. I find myself focused on what I can bring to the world, not what the world can bring to me, and that is a good feeling. This time of year seems to encourage this type of reflection. It is a time for me to reflect on what I have, not what I don’t have. The more you focus on gratitude you more you eliminate negativity. What are you grateful for in your life? All the Best … Joel

WILLIAM C. MURRAY SAYS…

Nourishment and Opportunity. This time of year, between the feasts of Thanksgiving and the ringing in of a New Year, is special to me because they can provide a wonderful opportunity to be mindfully aware of power that comes from nourishment. As someone who loves to cook, I get to spend days on end thinking about how to nourish those around me with delicious treats on their plates. Recently, my son has shown a strong interest in culinary william-murraycreations and I have .the chance to nourish his creativity, curiosity and imagination. Extended family will travel and gather together, telling stories of both recent adventures and of time-honoured memories of days and people past. Routines and rituals mix with new experiences and events; old ornaments carefully shared with new family members, blending past moments with present ones. This time of year is special as we have the opportunity to nourish – a fundamental gift of our human capacities. We have the opportunity to think not of ourselves but of others, to act in ways that celebrate peace and good will, and to refocus our attention into the hearts of others.

William C. Murray is all about humanizing our business in two core ways: providing amazing service and building strong relationships. His passion for service excellence comes from years of hands-on experience in the hospitality, tourism and retail sectors. William is an author, story teller, an occasional painter, and a full time teacher with over 15 years of experience. He holds a PhD in management with a focus around meaning creation, language, and sensemaking.  www.williamcmurray.ca

BARRY LEWIS GREEN SAYS…

It used to be, and remains for me, the “perfect storm” of Christmas Eve and light snow and total silence.  As someone who is considered “active” even amongst my journey through TIA… I am forever enamored by that time of purity and silence.  Each Christmas Eve, God willing these conditions of snow and silence, I will go out amongst the stars and snow and be in absolute reverence of Creation.  Even 23 years as a Baha’i, I still love this NOWmoment and ponder the unity of things… of all the Teachers from Abraham through Moses, Zoroaster, Buddha, Krishna, The Christ, Mohammed to the Bab and Baha’u’llah… and the countless unrecorded.  In that moment, I am reminded of a powerful sense of unity.  And I am in awe.  This year has been especially a learning experience with the passing of my mother and my own road back to health.  I look forward to a week of reverence and understanding… and a month (December) of the magic of close friends and family… and how the possibility of peace is still a powerful and needed vision for the world.  Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Malid un Nabi… or however you celebrate this time. I wish you peace, passion and prosperity for all.
