One of my favorite quotes is “Be generous in prosperity and thankful in adversity.”  Thankful, even in adversity; imagine.  Here is a LINKEDIN Pulse Post on the Power of Gratitude.  I invite you to have a read of the offering from EMMA SEPPÄLÄ, Ph.D.  In addition, I ask that you consider the virtues of Gratitude and Thankfulness.  They are indeed virtues, accessible to all.

GratitudeThankfulness

Consider the practices.  What would they look like in daily practice?  One does not wake up being fundamentally grateful or thankful after years of otherwise.  The practice of any virtue, in order to strengthen it, requires just that; practice.  Practice makes permanent.  It requires rituals… not hollow but wholeheartedly practiced.  It requires developing a daily regime that allows for and encourages that strength to strengthen.

So, my question to you is this.

What is a daily practice at morning, noon and evening that could center and strengthen you on gratitude and thankfulness?

In other words…

What would create such at least three times a day, including as you rise and retire? What would be simple enough, three times a day, that would gain you your traction on this.  The aforementioned post cites the benefits and even some ideas on practice, as do the cards.  Still, what would help to create three islands of gratitude and thankfulness each day?  As you build those islands, they will turn into continents.  Then, see where that takes you.

GratitudePeace, passion and prosperity.

PS

Staring this Thursday September 8 2016, I will be going (for the first time) Facebook Live at 7:00 pm EST, with what I call After Class™.  It will literally be right after class for me, coming straight out of Strategic Management with my final year Human Resource Development students…  and it is indeed about our learning.  We will spend about 15-30 minutes, exploring the practice of strengths.  This week, I will introduce 5 strategies and 4 tactics for doing so, and we will center on the strengths of gratitude and thankfulness.  I am excited to launch this ongoing conversation.  Hope you join me at Barry Lewis Green (The Unity Guy) on Facebook or Epic Engage on Facebook.

I will also be presenting 4 different sessions at the 2016 NL Wellness Expo, and possibly partnering JM2with my friend and colleague Jamie McCabe of the Clay Cafe.  I encourage you to attend and experience the Expo, and engage my four sessions if you can.  Each session is independent and yet related but one will be of real value.  All 4, well that would be more so.  🙂

On another note, I encourage you to check out this post on starting up… a great read with 8 perspectives on starting up at school, business or community.

And… this post on simplicity… a Virtue and strength of character that is foundational to success, going forward.  Gratitude and Thankfulness are part of Simplicity too.
