In Finding Purpose with Some C4, I offered up thoughts and links around mission, vision, purpose, why, what, how, and just cause. If you are pondering on same for yourself or your organization, the read just might have value. That said, the writing of such had value for me.
Amidst my own pondering yesterday, my clarity on the above inspired me to revisit my own personal and professional aspirations; and my System.
Given my own sense of crossroads, and my work on health, I thought… “Making it to 70, what would soulfully feel right?“. Now, I am not limiting my life to 70 (though we have no idea how much time we have, making it all the more precious) but it is the next milestone for me.
I started to craft a revisited “System”. I have long used the model of a 9-planet system around a trinary star as my own personal model. It dates back to a vivid and robust childhood imagination of worlds and galaxies pre-dating Star Wars, lol. My 9 planets are my AL’s; SpirituAL, RelationAL, PhysicAL, MateriAL, FiscAL, ProfessionAL, EducationAL, PersonAL, and EntrepreneuriAL. These are my 9 areas of Wholiness, I call them… and they have served me pretty well to date, 61 years in. That said, I have been feeling for a couple of years now that it was time to reset the System.
Unapologetic about the remnants of my childhood imagination and language creeping in, this new System speaks to thoughts around my own mission, vision, purpose, why, what, how, and just cause as noted in the last post.
Reflecting back… My WHY: My core belief since childhood is that the only true leadership is noble. My WHAT is I engage, educate and entertain on that very truth. My HOW is about platform… I speak, teach, coach, train, facilitate, mentor, sing, dance, write, blog, vlog, cartoon, act and create on same.
I might now, given the System reset, add boxing, lol.
Based on and around the concept as noted by Simon Sinek, I believe that the only truly leadership is noble. In everything I do, I engage, educate and entertain on that sense of truth. I will speak, teach, coach, train, facilitate, mentor, sing, dance, box, write, blog, vlog, cartoon, act and create on same.
Every area of my life, every planet in the System will somehow connect with same in my spiritual practice and Faith, my home and relationships, my health and wealth, my work and business, my learning and teaching and playing. There is an organic and dynamic nature and feel to this exercise. It feels so good. It goes beyond goals. The planets of the System cooperate while being distinct in their respective “orbits”. But, they all center around the Trinary.. mind, body, spirit.
I am not suggesting that you adopt the System, but it does work. You can even adapt the metaphor to a harbor with different ships and facilities, or some other model that speaks to you.
What I will say and suggest is that spending time getting ever more clear on why, what, how, just cause, mission, vision and purpose does Honor to your life; the one you have… that precious one. Secondly, seeing your life as a system of parts, cooperating and not competing, has a powerful capacity for synergy. When the parts of our lives are working together, mmmmmmm, cool. As I continue learning about my body through my own journey, I am ever more reminded of such powerful capacity to have the different parts working together.
Find your System.
