In A “PD” Day? last week, I shared on Perceptiveness and Discernment. Over this past week, I continued a journey of exploring character in these times, and yesterday I offered up a deeper dive on Confidence. Just this morning on LinkedIn, I shared on Consideration. You can find links to all of my posts on character in these times… within those posts. I have been practicing my own Perceptiveness and Discernment.
My point today is pure and simple. These days require thought, will and action. They require us to consider what we are seeing and hearing. They require us to consider what people and energies we truly need. They require us to consider our own thoughts (and mental health in doing so) and our actions and reactions. They require our emotional intelligence, and what I call our character intelligence.
Character intelligence can be advanced through the 5 Strategies of The Virtues Project.
The first strategy is Speak the Language. It essentially means… gain a better understanding of these things we call virtues; expand your vocabulary. I offer up this poster of some 101 to consider.
A simple practice would be to pick one and practice it each day. By practice I mean… look for examples of it, practice it in your own conduct, and more. To do so, you can simply refer to the poster above, and/or get the virtues cards via app from Virtuesmatter.com. Or, you can go to the main page of The Virtues Project and do a daily virtues pick.
My own thought this day, is that each week, on a Wednesday with this blog, I am going to do such a pick… and for the week. I just took my phone with the app, shook it, and a random (or not) virtue came up. That is part of the cool functionality of the app. 🙂
The card I got was…
I shall practice it fiercely this week. I will seek out examples of it, and practice it myself. How about you? Use this pic, or do your own and practice it. Onwards.
Peace, passion and prosperity…
