Way back on December 30 of 2022, I wrote on Patient Curiosity. In it, I noted “Now, imagine Curiosity and Patience in real balance. Therein lies the power of that proverbial and successful hunt. That is the power I intend to bring into 2023…”.
And so far, I have. As my 63rd birthday (actually the 63rd anniversary of my one birth day, my day of birth lol) approaches, I am reflecting on what my own patient Curiosity is yielding.
Yielding is the operative word here. As a Virtue, it is to both surrender and yield results. There is something about Yielding that lets go and moves forward.
That said, over the past few weeks, I have been very busy with College and Epic Engage and blogs including Succinct and Diligent and Virtues, Values and Finding Fit and Exploring Vision and DELIVER as Tempered Steel and Creative Faces and Focus and 3 Forces of Inspiring Leadership. Most recently, I posted on Curiously Exploring Purpose which brings me back full circle, if you will.
As my 63rd indeed approaches on February 20, I am strangely, coolly excited. On my birthday, I am leading a session on Creativity. And, in the last few weeks, I have been discerning and deciding on my own Vision forward.
Four Focuses United…
Health; practicing my own optimal health, exploring Boxing and Salsa Dancing as a Discipline for my own enduring walk towards and through next Chapter. Put simply, BOXsa is my chosen and loved path to engaging body, mind and spirit to fiercely serve in my work. It is my path for health and strength to be and serve and joyfully live the best I can. Service; Epic Engage as a fully online and global leadership training and development social and spiritual enterprise. Faith; moving to and living, working and serving in Haifa (Insh’allah) in 2024. And opening up again to the possibility of Love…. after 10 years solo. This is my Next Chapter Stuff, my re-birth stuff, and my Yielding, in practice. Much is being let go to make room for 4 united and congruent focuses forward.
There is a Simplicity and Clarity to this for me, that is liberating in the best and most real of ways… Health, Service, Faith and Love as my big rocks… with Humans Together Strong as my just cause… and sense of meaning. It is about letting go to seize hold… to seize hold of ever better helping to work on that which truly matters to me; a better world… and future.
I saw a post from Joe Calloway on LinkedIn, sharing words from Arnold Bennett… “The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance. The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you, as perfect, as unspoiled, as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life. You can turn over a new leaf every hour if you choose.” If you were to think of 4 core and congruent matters of importance forward for your own Yielding, what might they be? Be audacious in your Honesty with yourself. Get beautifully and palpably clear on same, and act upon it. Peace.
