In 3 Months of Focus, I noted “I have had several mentors who suggest that our planning and execution must needs be focused over 90 days; 3 months. We cannot truly foresee beyond. This does not deny having a longer vision but it speaks to that over which we have some semblance of control.” That said, the timeline of focus makes sense. But, so does the matter of knowing the actual and true “focus”. We must narrow our sights as well as our timeline, me thinks.
What is our focus? What matters so much to us that concentrating on same gets us movement with meaning? What is our just cause, if you will? What is our best sense of purpose? How do we “know” it? I suggest that we feel it…. to know it. Sometimes finding the words is less powerful than experiencing it.
Last night, amidst a bit of a much needed rest and reset, I watched the Season ender of Picard, and the premiere of Strange New Worlds. As I noted on LinkedIn today…
“A week of prep and production ahead of new Term. So much done and getting done. Feeling a little “under the weather” and taking some opportunity to rest and reset. Last night was such. And then… Freakin’ wow. Star Trek! Perfect timing for rest and reset. Yup, Star Trek. Been a Fan since the 60’s. The message of #Humanity resonates in my Soul. The 6 original series. The 5 new ones. The 16 movies. But last night… OMG. The Season ender for Picard. Rich and deep and fun. A better understanding of Picard and Q and other characters, old and new. Loved it. Spoke to #connection and #Courage in the face of uncertainty. And Laris… don’t get me started. 😀 Then, the premiere of Strange New Worlds. Wow oh wow oh wow. A message of Humanity and Courage. And getting to know traditional characters ever better. Loving where that can go. I will be rewatching. Those were two of the best episodes in a Universe I have adored for 50+ years. Yes, just a show. I get it. Just a story. But what a story of #Optimism and #Nobility and Courage. While I rested… … those shows so spoke to my own reset. ❤️”
I felt my WHY and Just Cause and sense of meaning. Oh yes, I can articulate it as “Move forward together, stronger” or “Humans together, strong” and it makes sense cognitively. But moments around two great shows that moved me… moved me. As much as I love the alignment articulated by my 70 Vision, Soulfully it is so much more palpable in the experiencing of the meaning. Feeing it, beyond knowing it. Feeling it as source of knowing. And so, my singular thought to me and you this day is that we need to listen within ever better. Part of that is taking stock of those moments that have moved us. As I reflect on the feelings illumined by these two shows, I am reminded of other moments of clarity. It is important to inventory them. Each one is a knock on the door of our Being. If we but listen and answer.
For me, it is more of a confirmation, but I am going to consciously and deliberately remember those moments and their feelings, and know that they are guidance. I am going to create a Wall of Soul; filled with moments of remembrance to move forward. As I look forward to watching those episodes again, I am also playing back in my head and heart other times where I knew what I knew because I felt what I felt. For me, “Move forward together, stronger” or “Humans together, strong” are more than words. They are movement. They are meaning, but known ever better by feeling them as my own battle cry. Unity is my cause… my infinite game; high functioning, character driven, nobly felt Unity. The journey is the purpose, advancing “Humans together, strong”. And that Wall will reflect same.
I know what moves me… for LIFE, because I have felt the movement; at my core… and unmistakably so throughout my life. I cannot deny it; nor do I want to do so. Character and Unity resonate deeply for me in the Service, work, play and life that speaks to me deeply. It is my journey of mastery… or studentry… what LP Jacks referred to in saying, “The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.” Even as I type these words, they do not measure up or down to the feeling known, All that I know is that I know, through feeling… and I will work that. What moves you Soulfully? What really moves you HELL YEAH like? Explore Purpose, practically. Inventory the times your Soul came a knockin’…. that you could not ignore. Get real and honest with that. Follow that. Run after it and with it; with Courage and Optimism. PEACE…
