I know “Honester” is not a word, but I had to… I had to write it. Last week, I wrote simple and honest. In it, I wrote (amongst other things)…
- Since initially articulating my focus on these 9 milestones, real and encouraging progress is happening.
That being said, I have been restless of late. It is today that I realize why. There is a purpose to all of these. It is born of being ready for what I have been calling the “next chapter”. But there is still a depth and breadth of Honesty that needs manifesting for me now.
That simple honesty of spirit has continued this week. Clarity is burning off any clouds remaining. On Tuesday evening and Wednesday, I recorded 
and wrote on what I call Pendulum Learning. I humbly recommend the aforementioned reads and views. Regardless, all of this is to say that Simplicity and Honesty are huge in living and working a meaningful life. With that in mind, over these last months, I have sharpened the blades on my own clarity at work.
- In the work I do, and the life I live, I create, learn and teach… for a better world. I revere the human spirit; am accountable to it and unapologetically confident in it … and my desire to serve it. I fiercely serve Optimism, grounded in the exploration of character, strengthened by Discipline to get better. I choose to work with noble minded and world embracing leaders, educators and entrepreneurs for that better world at school, work, business and community. Yes, I am a creator, student and teacher on character leadership and education. I am The Unity Guy.
Language does matter. I have been working on that clarity and purposefully journaling in blog form, exploring my narrative, and moving forward with it. I am catching up with myself.
Professionally, I am clear on what I do and who I serve, simple and honest. Personally, I am clearing some fog around the simple and honest Barry who does that work and lives that life. So:

My suggestion is this. Invest the time. Do not overthink, but be reflective. Look for the simple and honest answers as to who you are, what you do and for whom you do it best. Be courageous and truthful. Do not pose. Be real.
Ask yourself…
What moves you? What sustains you? What reaches your spirit? Dig, go deeper, look right under your nose and into your heart. Consider what you love and that at which you are most skilled. Consider what the world needs more of you on. Ponder your sense of purpose and passion. Find ways to honor them. Find ways to be simple and honest. Life is short and it freakin’ matters.
