decisiveness

AIIA

We cannot be certain of much but there are things for which we can.

In Tenacious Sagacious Steps, I suggested that “Tenacity is that capacity to keep walking, and Sagacity is that capacity for discerning each step that is right for us.” I recommend the back back, read and reflect.

That said, me too.

I am also discerning thusly.

This has been a demanding week between my walking the Baha’i Fast while getting back to online teaching and various development projects, plus my new road back to health. One mini project amongst it all was to update Rock 109 to Rock 118… a new periodic table of virtues for practice.

Why do I offer such here? As I consider Tenacity and Sagacity, the “raw materials” are the practice of the virtues. The challenge is to look at each situation faced, as faced, and consider what virtues are necessary for each; not unlike a 118 speed stick shift.

As a Master Facilitator with The Virtues Project, I am aware that (a) character matters and most so in times of uncertainty, (b) character is driven and developed by the practice of virtues and (c) such practice is made possible by reflecting on what each virtue looks like in action. As I face each step of the walk forward, it is crucial to assess the situation, identify the virtues called for, imagine what they would look like, and then act accordingly.

  • Assess the situation with Openness and Discernment
  • Identify the virtues called upon with Discernment and Decisiveness
  • Imagine the virtues in action with Creativity
  • Act upon that imagination with Initiative and Commitment

AIIA… 4 steps for those tenacious sagacious steps. We walk…

Peace, passion and prosperity…

On Words and Up Words

In On Words last week, I shared on Initiative. Earlier this week, In AukWords, I shared on Between the Ears… on character and the need for reset. This week, and with these posts in mind and heart, I am cognizant of a new D-Line for moving forward.

I am, this day, also aware of Daring.

The trowel building my best self.

And reminded of Dominion and Dignity.

And Diligence.

But amidst October, a truly crazy busy time with College, exams and work/business… and amidst recovering from a bad belly bug… I am reminded of Daring. I am reminded of Jonathon Livingston Seagull. I am reminded of Chadwick Boseman. I am reminded of the beauty that is Daring. I am reminded that it is the virtue of soaring.

There are time when we need to detach and step back… to discern and decided on what matters, to devote ourselves to same and manifest Determination in moving forward. In so doing, we take on our responsibility for our lives with Dominion, and Dignity. We persevere with Diligence.

And the fuel of it all is to dare. It all moves with Daring. Now all that is one D Line rotation; and one I find myself pondering on as I head into 2021. This has been and continues to be an historic year. I believe that we are in historic times and the Infinite Game is afoot.

These are interesting times. These are our times. It is our time.

I dare you. I dare me.

Daring matters. Panda knows.

Onwards. On words. And upwards. Up words. And that first word is dare.

Peace, passion and prosperity…

Dare, Decide and Detach

Last week, in Grateful and More, I shared ” Taking time to be grateful and content does not negate the need for work and the march forward. But being grateful and content can help us sustain our walk. Optimism sees “the stuff” ahead and knows we will get there. For me and my life right now, I am at that very place. There is much for which I am grateful. Yet, this time and these days have been an incredibly challenging time for me. There is more to be walked and worked towards. I am reminded this day that Contentment and Optimism are practiced, as is Gratitude… while we walk forward. The practice might be hard, but worthy.”

And now, walking forward, I am focused on Daring, and Deciding and Detaching… as I gaze into my life ahead…

I am going back to read these blog posts (suggesting you do too), understanding that there is no magic button, only practice. Here we go…

Peace, passion and prosperity…
